Heat pump Walche, Federal Institute of Technology Centre, Zurich

Concept

Total reconstruction and extension of the 2 large scale heat pumps with converters, pumps, MSRL and a system for the capture of the cooling fluid for the supply of the district heating grid.

Installation of both heat pumps and integration of the system into the district heating grid (72° C) and set up of a fully automatic system for the capture of the cooling fluid for the protection of the water of the river Limmat.

Exchange of the MSRL-System and of all peripheral devices like pumps, regulators, converters and safety systems.

Utilisation of the rejected heat from the water of the river Limmat (4,000 m³/h) with two special heat pumps (2 turbo compressors, R134a) and feed in of the heating energy with an annual production of 34 GWh/a into the district heating grid of the ETH Centre at 72° C.
