NEK starts wind measuring campaign in The Gambia

In the first half of May 2022, specialists from NEK Umwelttechnik AG installed wind measurements at selected locations along the coast of Gambia in order to obtain precise information on the wind conditions there. These measurements form the basis for developing wind projects at the planned locations.

Several larger areas have already been preselected on which NEK will develop wind projects. Depending on the wind conditions, up to 150 MW of electrical power can be installed there in a first phase, which will help Gambia meet its ambitious goals in connection with the climate change problem.

The government of The Gambia aims to ensure that the entire population has access to electricity by 2025 and that the majority of this should come from renewable energy sources.
