Ghana: Building permit application submitted for 200 MW Wind Farm Madavunu

Ghana: Building permit application submitted for 200 MW Wind Farm Madavunu

After a long period of planning, we have submitted on behalf of Upwind Madavunu Ltd.,  the extensive building permit application for another wind energy project in Ghana to the local authorities: the 200 MW Madavunu Wind Farm.

This project is located in the Ada-West District in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana's just north of our project Amlakpo and right next to the 330 kV overhead line of the West African Power Pool (WAPP). The submission was made after extensive preliminary clarifications at the Ada-West District Assembly in Sege, which will now intensively examine the application documents in the coming weeks. At the present time, we assume that we can expect the official building permit for the project towards the end of 2019.

The wind farm is planned with turbines of the 4 MW class, but no manufacturer has yet been appointed for this purpose. The park will be connected to the immediately adjacent 330 kV line, so that the electricity produced can be used both for export and for Ghana's own use. It can be assumed that the project will be fully permitted by the end of 2022 and can be built subsequently.

Below are some photos of the project area.
